What is the Datsun 311 Photo Contest?
It is a curated photography contest for vintage car enthusiasts. We aim to celebrate the enduring legacy of classic motoring by showcasing the best visual representations of vehicles produced through the year 2000.
Why the Datsun 311?
To sum it up: Before the world knew the 240Z, the Datsun 311 (the 1600 and 2000 Roadsters) was the scrappy underdog that took on the established European sports cars. In the late '60s, it famously dominated the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) tracks, winning multiple national championships and proving that Japanese engineering was a force to be reckoned with. Beyond its racing pedigree, it's a stunning sports car that continues to turns heads today.
What are the entry limits?
Entrants must own the vehicle pictured in the submitted photo. Please note that the winner will be required to provide ownership verification during the final selection process. To ensure a high standard of professional, manual judging, the contest is strictly limited to 2,000 entrants. Once this cap is reached, registration will close automatically. Important:
What vehicles qualify for the contest?
Any vehicle make or model produced up to and including the year 2000 is eligible for entry. This includes a wide range of automotive history, such as iconic sports cars and performance coupes, vintage sedans and luxury compacts, open-top roadsters, and rugged classic trucks.

Does my car have to be in perfect condition?

Not at all, we welcome cars in any condition, from "patina" survivors, to track-ready builds. We are looking for the best photograph that captures the spirit and soul of the vehicle.

What is the Grand Prize?
The winner will receive a Datsun 311 Roadster valued between $22,000 and $25,000. We will source either a 1600 or 2000 model in the best possible condition, specifically chosen for its originality and period-correct features.
How much does it cost to enter?
There is a $20.00 Judging fee. This fee ensures that all participants are committed to the contest and allows us to provide a professional, manual evaluation of every single entry.
How do I submit my photo and pay the fee?
The process follows these steps:
  1. Register: Secure one of the 2,000 available spots by entering your information on our Pre-Register page.
  2. Notification: Once the 2,000-entrant limit is reached, you will receive an email with payment and photo upload instructions.
  3. Submission: You will have a 96-hour window from the time of notification to pay the $20 Judging fee and upload your highest-quality classic car photo.
What happens if I miss the 96-hour window?
Only those who complete the fee payment and photo upload within the designated 96-hour window will move forward to the official judging round. Should you miss the 96-hour window, you will automatically be pre-registered into our next contest.
How will my photo be evaluated?
Our professional judges will evaluate submissions based on three main pillars:
  • Composition: The technical arrangement and visual balance of the shot.
  • Storytelling: How well the image captures the classic automobile.
  • Artistic Execution: The overall soul, mood, and impact of the photograph.
